Yo Stones here, bringing you the first ever guest freakjam!!... and what a pleasure it is to present Uhul (???- you know, its pronounced YAHOO! in Portuguese)! I met one of these Brazilian punk rockers in a bar in Austria a couple years ago where we bonded over our collective hatred for that country. After swapping war stories we put their album on the bar stereo and rocked out to the max, while simultaneously terrifying the locals (Fuck them, anyway!). And so it was that I was first introduced to Uhul, the Brazillian punk rock four piece that loves to Heineken!  Apparently there is a video floating around of our crazy antics that night.  What I can piece together involves lots of alcohol, offended locals, and police. What else can I say, that pretty much sums it up right there!

Bio: This band of funky bluesy soul brothers originates from the hills around Athens, GA. They have the fresh crispy kind of funk emanating from their flying fluctuating fingertips. These guys are true soul pimps of the groove. They are understood as musical saints/hermits around their hometown, because they only come out to get funky! Illin saxophone crushes the funk like a seething mad viking demon. Maximum bass relentlessly assaults your motion-flux capacitor and will charge up your funk batteries to unleash bombastic spurts of the "crazy legs". Lets not forget the solid drums and snakelike guitar weaving and bobbing with various crispy wahs and clean tones for yo bones. The organ sits atop the clouds in JazzChronic's atsmosphere as a buddha-like deity adding moist precipitation to the grooves, as well as ocassionally hurling blasts of hail and acid rain as well. I'll have to say JazzChronic is one of the seven secret ronins of Freakjams. They are like the Shogun Assassins of Funk. They travel from town to town bursting with a variety of funk flavors! Bio: When I hear Freakjams, I mean real true Freakjams it just tears at my heartstrings and warms my soul. Brown Kid is a delicious, fruitful magic basket of the most masterful Freakjams! Check out their myspace for some of the illinest freshness to ever come out of Auburn, AL. As you may know most Freakjams come from Auburn, AL or Boston, MA (not forgetting Brooklyn, NY; Athens, GA; or the entire Freakjam state of New Jersey) thats just a little known fact. I'm not saying that there cannot be Freakjams elsewhere, it just happens to be that the loveliest village on the plains is a melting pot of the most luscious Freakjams. Okay, so Brown Kid has achieved Legendary status here in the Southland from rocking out mega shows with Jason McMillan, Strangelove Ocean, The Pillij, The Good Doctor and others. Ed's mysterious vocals transcend the sludge of the haters, jealous pimps, jealous of his pimp-status, all the while his partner in crime, Rodrigo, kills the verses with incredible mic-skill putting all haters and whack MC's to the test.

With influences from The Violent Femmes to Sublime, their music is a cool mix of hilariously truthful lyrics and uncontested song forms. Buy their album on CdBaby!! you will not be disappointed! Brown Kid is still rockin down here in the Auburn area giving regular white people and black people a smidge of brownness in their life. 21 - Thugg Mansion

Bio: Thugg Mansion takes their name from the 2pac song "Thugz Mansion" and based their outlook on the composition. First of all the version of the song on the video is a horrible remix with acoustic guitar and completely rapes the dream that was the original version. In other words that version sucked, the realest truest version features an electric guitar loop and then little known Anthony Hamilton killing the chorus. That version of the song helped to create this band. Not only was that song a mainstay of their repertoire, but it laid the foundation for the kind of style they embodied. Playing a range of stylings from instrumental Jam-funk to Hip-Hop to Jazz and Reggae, they were a staple of the Boston party scene around the time of other legends, Barracuda Emergency, Jonny vs. the Ninjas and Whoarfrost. They no longer perform together as Thugg Mansion opting to let the group rest in peace. Now the individual members have went on to form other Freakjam faves like Frit, The Good Doctor, bananamananimal and others. Like most artists on Freakjams, Thugg Mansion's music is not commercially available, but wait for it because the full Freakjams site is on the way making it possible for you to purchase previously unavailable secret tracks from your favorite Freakjams artists.

Check out their flumpy myspace for illness like, "Waffle Haus" and "Love Juice." Members Nusty, Nasties, Stones, Schyheim (the youngest member of the Wu-Tang Clan) and Hershey Park mixed their powerful flavor packets together in a blender and produced a sweet-bitter love smoothie that satisfied the party people of Boston for three years. 17 - Turkuaz

Bio: Huh!! Turkuaz is a nine-piece funk band that has been killin the NY scene for the past few years. Already opening for major artists up there, they have developed a unique smorgasbord of JB horn lines, Latin beats and big band energy. The undeniable thump of the rhythm, harmonious vocal lines, and funky synth lay a fat bed of jam under Chris and Greg's party horns. Currently touring the west coast, you will normally find them funkin up shows around their home in NYC. Check out the mega-funk on their myspace with groove anthems such as "Monkey Fingers" and the French inspired "Chat Lunatique." Their shows are colorful, multi-cultural and they get the crowd poppin with their funky origiz! Yo how many times can I say funk in this article. Funk, funk, funk, funk, funk freakjams!

Turkuaz consists of nine members all mixing their various styles of dirty funk into a blender that overflows all over the funk counter and then floods the whole funk house and into the funk street where the funk children walking to funk school start to drown in an endless sea of funky flotsam and jetsam. Their mystical harmonies weave a spider-web of funk for your dome. And as the morning dew moistens the web you can hear the funk crystals glistening in the air. Turkuaz takes their name from the ancient Babylonian funk-god of the same name, so you know that their funk dates back to pre-history. If you plan on attending a Turkuaz show prepare to be whisked away by their funky-dance party jams until you lay on the floor panting from a funk overdose. Keeping the tradition of funk alive is the Turkuaz's goal and that goal is very true to the goal of Freakjams. Funk equals Freakjams and so can you!

2 - Jason McMillan

Bio: Jason McMillan is a most underestimated regional phenomenon taking the southeast by storm. He began his musical career in college at Auburn University in the wonderful state of Alabama. Whilst there he began playing in local clubs and bars throughout the state. Hailing originally from Helena, AL, he now resides in Nashville, TN. His new album, comprised of all original material is on the horizon. He is finishing up the mixing and mastering and it should be released this Spring. In addition to writing and recording, he gives spectacular performances on the reg. Jason recently played two crowd stomping shows in Auburn at the Olde Auburn Ale House and the War Eagle Supper Club, and is scheduled to play Hudson's Bar, (outside of Columbus, GA) this New Years Eve!

His show often includes local talent wherever he may play, thus is the essence of true Freakjams. His shows include everything from rap, country to funky originals, reggae and blues. Check out unmixed yet to be released super secret tracks from his upcoming album on his myspace page! Jason McMillan is a unique songwriter that is, as we speak, penning sweet sultry hit nectar for your ear stamens!

1 - Pu$$ycat Pimpz (P.C.P.)

Bio: Our first artist profile is dedicated to the nefarious, infamous, Boston based Hip-Hop group, The Pu$$ycat Pimpz. What can I say, or rather not say about these guys? This group is currently in hibernation, taking an extended hiatus after their sold out shows at large stadiums and arenas in the Northeast. Their music can be described as "Genius" - The Washington Post, for their lyrical mastery and "breathtaking majesty of form and skill" - DJ Tray Boner mix 96.7. The height of these guys career was between 2004-2007, when most of their hits were recorded. Songs like, "Is This a Barn?"; "Sex on My Love" and "Time To Get Krunk!" were all recorded around that time.

The group began in 2004 with MC Shang, MC Crimelord, and MC Sikky D recording their first single in their college dorm. Wanting to stay underground, the three MC's worked hard to make sure their Hot Fire spread slowly and under control. Soon the crew expanded to just under twenty members with the likes of The Victorious U.D.A., MC Squibs, MC Nusty AKA The Wolfmang, MC Nista - The Sinista Sista, Professor Pax, Dr. Domes, Ramses, L.I.F.E. Control, MC Planet, Titus of Gaul, Black Tongue, Slaughter Beast, Dr. Light, MC Stones and others... There agility is unmatched on the mike. Now with seven complete albums (none of them are currently commercially available) they remain originators true to their art form. Look out for the P.C.P. reunion coming in the next light-year for your dome!
